Dear Parents,
As we enter the final three months of the school year, we want to remind everyone that there is still a lot of time left for learning and growth. Every day counts, and we encourage all students to make the most of this time.
Importance of Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Each day provides valuable learning opportunities, and consistent attendance helps students stay on track with their studies. Please ensure your child attends school regularly and arrives on time.
Muddy Yard and Extra Clothes
With the changing weather, our school yard has become quite muddy. We recommend that younger students bring extra clothes to school to stay comfortable and clean throughout the day. This will help them enjoy outdoor activities without any inconvenience.
Graduation Ceremony
We are excited to announce that our graduation ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 25th, at 6:30 PM this year. More information will be shared at the end of April or in early May, so please stay tuned for updates.
Planning for Next Year
If you anticipate moving or if your child will need to attend another school next September, please let us know as soon as possible. This will help us organize appropriately for the next school year. Additionally, if you are aware of any families moving to the area, please encourage them to register sooner rather than later. Early registration helps us plan and prepare effectively.
Thank You for Your Support
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all families for your ongoing support. We have been thrilled to see the engagement on our Facebook page with our Staff Profiles. This initiative has been a fun way to engage families and introduce you to staff members you may not know well. It has been so successful that the Board has decided to kick off a similar online initiative. We hope to have a few more staff profiles coming your way soon.
Upcoming Events
Please see the attached calendar for all the upcoming events this month. We have a variety of activities planned, and we look forward to your participation and support.
Thank you for your continued cooperation and involvement in your child's education.

January 2025
Happy New Year and Welcome Back to School!
As we return to school in this new year, we would like to take a moment to remind parents and guardians of a few important details to ensure a smooth and successful remainder of the school year.
Winter Reminders
Please ensure your child is dressed properly for winter recesses, including warm clothing, gloves, hats, and scarves.
Check the online calendar regularly for updates and important dates. If you haven't already, consider signing up for alerts to stay informed.
Bus Behaviour
We expect all students to exhibit good behaviour while riding the bus, including respecting the bus driver, following rules, and treating fellow students with kindness.
Please check for bus cancellations and delays every morning. Cancellations are usually announced before 6:45 am, but later announcements are possible.
Chain of Communication
For parents and guardians, our chain of communication, as per board policy, is as follows:
Teachers: Your child's teacher is the first point of contact for questions or concerns about their academic progress, activities, or behaviour.
School Administration: If you have concerns or questions requiring administrative attention, please get in touch with Astrid, the principal. If there is a classroom concern, please speak with the teacher first. If no resolution is reached, then contact the principal.
Attendance and Punctuality
If your child will be absent or late, please call or text the school to let us know. This helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures your child's safety.
Attendance is crucial! Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over a school year, makes it harder to learn to read. Regular tardiness can also create a learning gap. Students arriving late often miss essential morning lessons and can find it hard to get their bearings after they arrive.
Upcoming Events
Our calendar is quiet so far this month, but we're excited to announce a special event:
Math Event: On January 30th, we invite families to join us at the school for an evening of math games and activities. This event is open to all families and will include games for students from K-8. We'll also provide pizza dinner and a take-home package for continued math fun at home. Details will follow, so mark your calendars!
School Council Meeting: The first meeting of 2025 will occur in February.
We're looking forward to a great remainder of the school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Dear Families:
To support learning and reduce distractions, Ontario schools will be required to follow the Ministry of Education’s new Provincial Code of Conduct starting this September. This will mean some important changes in our school around the use of personal mobile devices and social media.
Mobile Devices:
All members of the school community, including staff, students, and community members, will not be permitted to use personal mobile devices (i.e., cellphones, tablets, smartwatches, etc.) during instructional time.
Students’ personal mobile devices will need to be stored with screens out of view and powered off or set to silent mode throughout the full instructional day.
The only exceptions that will allow for the use of mobile devices are the following circumstances:
· for educational purposes, as directed by an educator
· for health and medical purposes (documented)
· to support special education needs
Going forward, report cards may include information on classroom distractions, such as the use of personal mobile devices.
To learn more about the Provincial Code of Conduct, visit https://ontario.ca/SchoolRules.
Social Media:
Also starting this September, school boards across Ontario will be required to restrict access to social media platforms on school networks and school devices.
School board and school communication with parents/guardians and the public through social media will still be allowed.
Our school is committed to working closely with our staff, students, and families to ensure a smooth transition for everyone as we adapt to these new provincial requirements. We ask for your support by encouraging you to discuss these changes with your child(ren) before the start of the school year to promote awareness, understanding, and responsible digital citizenship in creating a positive school climate.
Thank you for your cooperation and please feel free to reach out to the school if you have any questions.
