Welcome to sullivan community school

April 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope this message finds you well. As we embrace the spring season of growth and renewal, I am delighted to share some exciting updates from our school community.

I want to congratulate all our students who participated in the recent Science Fair and Speech competitions. These events, which have not only showcased their outstanding projects and speeches but also significantly contributed to their learning journey, are a testament to their enthusiasm for learning and dedication to excellence. The Science Fair and Speech competitions have been instrumental in fostering their curiosity, critical thinking, and communication skills. I am proud of every one of our students for their hard work, creativity, and commitment to academic success.

Our investment in new archery equipment has enhanced our physical education curriculum and sparked newfound interest and enthusiasm among our students. We have an eager and enthusiastic basketball team, looking forward to the upcoming tournament.

I also want to thank the Parent Council for their invaluable support. Thank you to Becky Bouwmeester for organizing the seed fundraiser for our library. We raised an impressive $1000 to enhance our library resources further.

Additionally, I am thrilled to announce that we have received a generous donation from Jim Patterson, which will allow us to purchase activities for our students to use at recess, including tricycles and building materials. The A.B.A.T.E. group has also donated to the school, which will also go toward library resources. We thank them for their support of our school initiatives. Their generosity will enable us to provide enhanced learning opportunities and resources for our students, further enriching their educational journey.

Many new events, trips, and activities are planned between now and the end of the school year. Please visit the webpage regularly for updates and to ensure you are not missing anything.

Thank you once again for your ongoing support and partnership. I wish you and your families a wonderful spring season filled with joy, growth, and new beginnings.

Warm regards,

Astrid Kastner

February 2024

Hello Stinger Families,

We had a fabulous beginning to the school year. We had the opportunity to do some coding with many of our classes and enjoyed a "Winter Fun Day" - minus the snow. We thank the teachers who helped organised the day and the 7/8 class who demonstrated true leadership skills.

Please remind your children about appropriate behaviours on the bus. We are seeing more and more issue with hand- on, disruptive behaviours. The drivers need to focus on the road.

We say a fond farewell to Mrs. Coleby who stepped into Mrs. Zagrodnick shoes while away on maternity leave. Mrs. Coleby has been a welcome addition to our school and we are sorry to have to say goodbye.

Please join us for our next Parent Council meeting April 3rd at 5:30 at  the school.

January 2024.

Happy New Year Stingers,

I hope everyone enjoyed time with their families and friends while we were off. It seems Mother Nature is bringing winter with her to welcome in the year.

In the mornings, I am usually alerted about bus cancellations by 6:30 am; however, there are times when it can happen later. Please check your local radio station and transportation website; they are updated regularly. I put it on Facebook as soon as I am altered and attempt to get it out in a text; however, that usually comes out later.

We had a busy month before the holidays and are proud of our volleyball teams, who both did well at their tournaments.  We thank Mr. Kuhl, Ms. Clark and Mrs. Unger for coaching our students.

We had a fabulous turnout at our Holidays Around the World concert. We thank everyone who came out to support our students and look forward to doing it again next year. We thank Mr. Corriveau for putting this event together.

Our lost and found is starting to fill up again. We will put the items out for students to collect and remind the children to look through them for anything they may have lost. I will post a picture of the items remaining Friday, February 1st; you may discover a lost treasure!

Don't hesitate to get in touch with your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns. I am always available to support you and your child as well.
